Really? Really?!

catbox
What do you suppose that this would be called in the online shop?
Underwear? Underpants? Undershorts? Briefs? Boxers?

Ummm, no. For some odd reason that I cannot for the life of me understand, this piece of menswear is on sale online in the largest department store in Denmark as Pouch Trunk.

Why does that sound to me as though someone was trying to combine a kangaroo and an elephant?

added 4/9: Crap! I had meant to go on about this name and its 'translation' from Damnish, but I seemed to have forgotten until I read the comments!

Okay, my bad!

I suspect I already know what they mean by 'pouch'. In Damnish, the word for a coin purse or pouch is the same word for a scrotum. Yeah, really! So, I'm suspecting that they couldn't use that English word in the product name, but they could add an allusion to an elephant's trunk.

They're called "boxer-briefs" in the US.

Is "trunk" the Damnish word for it or are they (ab)using an english term here? Pouch Trunk... so doesn't make sense to me!!!

I'd call them boxer-briefs or just boxers (although that's more used for those that generally aren't this snug fitting), or underpants as a more general name but.. pouch trunk. Uhm. No.

*laugh* Oh, nuts. I forgot to write about how I suspect I already know what they mean by 'pouch'. In Damnish, the word for a coin purse is the same word for a scrotum. Yeah, really!
